Event Information
The event will take place February 18th to February 22nd, 2025, in Calgary, Canada. This will be the inaugural World Youth Open and will feature divisions for ages 9 to 17. the World Youth Open will create an international youth and junior high-performance international meet that will lay the foundations for an eventual World Youth Championships.
The host city is the largest in the Province of Alberta, and is well-known as a key centre for energy. It lies at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, a short drive from the resort towns of Banff and Kananaskis, and is the traditional homelands of the the Niitsitapi, îyârhe Nakoda, the Tsuutʼina people.

Format
For this event, we are encouraging multi-club participation rather than a strict national approach. Each team will represent their federation or club, as appropriate, with the representing nation being clearly indicated in the schedule, standings, and all promotions.
Age Groups: U12, U15 and U18
Divisions: Mixed in Foam and Cloth
Games are scheduled to begin on February 19 with the finals taking place in February 22. February 18 will feature an open drop-in and meet-and-greet opportunity for the teams
Rules: Rules will follow WDBF format with slight modifications, including a shorter court length for the U12 divisions, and timed matches to ensure the schedule is maintained.
Estimated Participants
The World Youth Open is expecting to attract over 200 participants over the course of the week, generating an estimated economic impact of $2.3 million (as determined by Tourism Calgary).

The following nations have registered for this event:
Canada, Egypt, Hong Kong, Ivory Coast, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The Centre is a multi-sport facility that provides visitors with access to a wide variety of services, including gymnasium facilities, a pool, fitness centre, and other health and wellness services. The WDBF is proud to partner with the venue to host the World Youth Open.
