The World Dodgeball Federation is honoured to welcome Ms. Filomena Fortes as a Strategic Advisor to the organization.

Ms. Fortes serves as President of the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee, and is a Second Vice President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).

“It is an absolute honour to be able to call on the wisdom and knowledge of President Fortes,” said WDBF President Duane Wysynski. “As the sport and its governance structures continue to evolve, it is essential to have experienced leaders helping to move you in the right direction.”

A veteran of international sports governance, Ms. Fortes is a permanent member of the International Olympic Committee, a founding member of the Comité Paralímpico de Cabo Verde, and was a representative on the World Anti-Doping Agency board.

In September, newly-elected IOC President Kirsty Coventry named Ms. Fortes as a member of the Youth Olympic Games Working Group.

“I appreciate the incredible honor of being named a Strategic Advisor to the World Dodgeball Federation. It’s truly uplifting to witness the Federation’s dedication to making sports accessible, inclusive, and focused on community development. I’m excited to lend my support to these initiatives and feel inspired by the work being done across Africa and beyond. Promoting traditional African versions of dodgeball alongside the global format is such a fantastic way to celebrate our heritage while bringing people together through sport.” -Filomena Fortes
