The 2025 World Police & Fire Games (WPFG), a premier international event celebrating the strength and spirit of first responders, brought together over 8,500 athletes from more than 70 countries in Birmingham, Alabama, from June 27 to July 6. Modeled after the Olympics, the WPFG featured 60+ sports and highlighted the camaraderie, dedication, and athleticism of professionals from law enforcement, fire services, corrections, border protection, and more.
Among the many highlights was the return of dodgeball, proudly supported by USA Dodgeball. The tournament featured 13 co-ed teams competing in the Mixed Foam format, with international representation including teams from the United States, Canada, Germany, and Brazil, among others.
In a thrilling final, “The Beavers”, unsurprisingly representing Canada, edged out “NYC Finest”, representing the United States, to claim gold. The win contributed to Canada’s overall haul of 154 gold medals, earning them fourth place in the final medal standings. Host nation USA topped the table with a dominant 590 golds, followed by Brazil and India. Canada also took gold in dodgeball in 2023 in Winnipeg and 2022 in Rotterdam.
Following the success of the event, with a record turnout and intense competition across all disciplines, attention now turns to the next edition in 2027, when the World Police & Fire Games will be held in Perth, Australia.
