In a significant move towards promoting clean sport, the World Dodgeball Federation (WDBF) has announced the introduction of anti-doping testing at the upcoming World Championships in Graz. The event is set to take place from August 11 to 18, 2024.
The anti-doping tests will be conducted in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations and will encompass athletes from various divisions. The WDBF is also providing educational resources on anti-doping and the testing process for athletes.
“This is an important step in the development of our sport,” stated WDBF Medical Director, Dr. Darko Sarovic. “It lays the foundation for more robust testing in support of clean sport.”
Additionally, information on in-competition testing will be available, along with forms for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) as outlined by WADA guidelines.
“We are not as far along in the process as we’d like to be,” commented WDBF President Duane Wysynski, “but this remains a significant part of our overall sports stewardship and is part of a larger strategy on safe and inclusive sport for all dodgeball participants.”
