The 4th African Dodgeball Championships took place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast from August 23–27, marking the largest gathering in the history of the sport on the continent. The event opened with a conference featuring a panel discussion on the current and future state of dodgeball in Africa, setting the tone for a milestone week.
Alongside the host nation, teams from Burkina Faso, Liberia, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Togo took part, highlighting the rapid growth of the sport across the region.
Ivory Coast once again proved its dominance, sweeping all six gold medals across Foam and Cloth divisions for Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed categories. Tournament newcomers Burkina Faso impressed in their debut, claiming four silver medals and one bronze. Morocco, hosts of the 2023 edition, secured two silver and one bronze, while Sierra Leone and Liberia each earned two bronze medals.
The World Dodgeball Federation congratulates the Ivorian hosts for delivering an outstanding event and looks forward to the 5th African Dodgeball Championships, scheduled for 2027.
