We are halfway through the 7th TAFISA World Sport Games and there is still so much more to come in this year’s program. The 7th TAFISA World Sport for All Games 2021 constitutes a celebration of Sport for All, Traditional Sports and Games, New Sports and Movement Cultures that the world has to offer. The World Dodgeball Federation is pleased to participate in the event, bringing the sport to the TAFISA international community for the first time ever. The WDBF was initially invited to participate in June 2020 in Lisbon, Portugal, but the pandemic forced the postponement of the event to 2021.
With much of the sporting world still exercising caution in their gradual return to play, the Lisbon Organizing Committee made the decision to forego a traditional live gathering in exchange for an innovative virtual approach to bringing the world together. The WDBF has remained committed to participating and is pleased to be involved in the event through the virtual demonstration of dodgeball and through the participation of President Duane Wysynski as a speaker and roundtable participant on the topic of “Diversifying the Sport Offer: New Sports and Disciplines Support Sport Participation”, Mr. Wysynski spoke specifically on the topic of ethical stability and the importance of creating a safe and inclusive environment in building community within a new sport. The roundtable panel included Jean-Francois Laurent of TAFISA and Chiara Volonté of the International Tchoukball Federation.
